Using the AI Assistant

Learn how to use the ToolTrack AI assistant to get quick answers about your tools, access, team, and compliance status.

Using the AI Assistant

ToolTrack AI includes a built-in AI assistant that can answer questions about your organization's tools, team, access requests, and compliance status. It is designed to save you time by surfacing information without requiring you to navigate through multiple pages.

What the AI Assistant Can Do

The AI assistant has access to your organization's data and can help with:

  • Tool questions — "Which tools does the Marketing department use?" or "How many tools are we tracking?"
  • Access information — "Who has access to GitHub?" or "Are there any pending access requests?"
  • Team details — "How many active members are in the Engineering department?" or "Who was the last person invited?"
  • Compliance status — "Are there any offboarded members with unrevoked access?" or "How many audit events were logged this month?"

Example Prompts

Here are some prompts to try:

  • "Show me all tools with no assigned owner."
  • "List pending access requests from the last week."
  • "Which team members were onboarded in the last 30 days?"
  • "What is our current compliance status?"
  • "How many tools are assigned to the Sales team?"

How It Works

When you ask a question, the AI assistant queries your organization's tool, access, team, and audit data in real time. It then summarizes the results in plain language. The assistant does not make changes to your data — it is read-only and designed for quick lookups and reporting.

Where to Find It

Look for the AI Assistant button in the bottom-right corner of the dashboard. Click it to open the chat panel, type your question, and press Enter. The assistant responds in a few seconds.

Tips for Best Results

  • Be specific — The more detail you include in your question, the more precise the answer will be.
  • Use names — Refer to tools, departments, or people by name when possible.
  • Ask follow-ups — The assistant remembers context within a conversation, so you can ask follow-up questions without repeating yourself.
